Room 11 Science Fair Project

This year Room 11 are making an Aquaponics unit for the science fair. Their aquaponics unit is an I.B.C (a big plastic container) cut in half, the top half will grow plants, the bottom half will be water. In the water there are fish. The fish waste gets pumped through a system of pipes and feed the plants.

The Battle Of Agincourt
Charge! We ran at the enemy guts went flying pants were wet and all respect for the enemy was washed away in a bath of blood…. On the sixteenth of October we re-enacted the battle of Agincourt. First we made armour which we decorated with cross’s and dragons. We also made shields but I had already made my own along with a helmet which me and my mum designed. And then we made swords and got ready for Battle.
First we practised our formation. Then we started walking first taking. Then we started walking first taking a few steps at a time while the enemy fired on us with water bombs and flour bombs then we decided that was enough we charged! We charged again and again until finally it was over. We shook hands and left the battle with nothing but beating hearts and wet pants.

Eels Come To School
Victory students got slime on their hands last Thursday when eel expert Grant came in to room 11 to talk about eels.He told room 11 lots of facts about long finned eels, including the fact that they are cannibalistic, and he even brought in some real eels. Eels can also breathe on land.

Grant took one out and anaesthetised it with clove oil so everyone could get a good look at an eel. When eels are scared they produce a slime-like fluid so when you try to hold them they slip out of your hands. They also have many sharp teeth which give them a good strong bite. Grant came in because room 11's topic for sustainability was eels.

Speeches
''Next speech,'' says Whaea Rachael. Two weeks ago the seniors at Victory had a speech competition. Everyone made a speech. Some people got to choose their topic and some didn't because their teachers selected theirs.
Everyone read the speeches they wrote to their teachers and then the teachers chose the best two or three people. The people that were chosen by their teacher had to compete in a whole syndicate competition. In that competition the judges(Gareth and Mrs Taylor) chose two winners, two runner ups and two third places.
The winners were Ngawai and Cumorah Lee, the runner ups were Lia and Jamie and the people that came third were Daniel and Bawi Min. There were lots of finalists who didn't get a placing.
Videos of for of the speeches are posted here.

Speech Compeitition
Here is a day that we all tried out for but sadly did not make it in. But some people did and that is for the speech competitions at Victory Primary School. Only two tamariki from each class were selected to speak in the competition. And they were Cumorah-lee, Ngawai Tia and Jamiee and Lea.
Cumorh-lee came first with Ngawai tia and Jamiee second with Lea. It was a massive night for the four of them. And I think it was also awesome too!
