Mini Olympics

A mob of fans are waiting for the arrival of the mini Olympics. Since the Olympics are going on many people from the victory sports leaders group have been selected to go on to the Mini Olympics in Saxton Stadium.Victory School have taken the roll of the nation Brazil. The selected students will be wearing green and gold.

Victory School's new salmon

Mr Science brought some salmon to school so Victory can study them. When the salmon arrived they were little tiny orange eggs. Room 11 students are now studying them and testing their water. It takes about half a year for the salmon to get to sea. They travel down the river then go to sea and get ready to breed. Then they come back to the exact same spot in the river to lay their eggs.

There are about 40 or more baby salmon in the tank in the library. If there was a dead salmon in the tank for a week it would start to rot and stink. Victory School will not keep them till they are very big because they can't keep all of them in the tank. They are going to give them back to NMIT, where Mr Science got them.

Olympics

Hoops, rackets, lanes and people. Here at Victory Primary School we are learning about the Olympics. We are doing some work about this main event because it's a major time to get set and go off to our corners and get ready! In room 8 we have been getting all the information that we could get. We have found info about where it is and why we are doing this main event...
Here is Carlina Tui's mahi about the Olympics. She has done a major job on her work!

The Winning Team

Last Friday the six a side soccer team from Victory school went to represent Victory Primary School at the inter-school's tournament.

We had only ten minutes to play the games. We played against the team from Hira School. We play for ten minutes and we won ten nil. After we had a break, we practise a lot. Then we had to play four more games. We didn't lose any games so we went to the final and we played St Paul's and it was a tie 1-1

Sadly we had to do a penalty shoot out. Bawi Cung scored a penalty shot and Philemon had an penalty shot but it went too high. Then Van Bawi got a penalty shot and scored a goal and he got an another penalty shot but he miss it, so it was Bawi Min turn. He scored the penalty shot. Finally it was the last penalty shot. It was Khup. He shot and he scored and he made Victory Primary School proud.

"We won the trophy 'cause we're too pro. Yay!" said Khup.

The Playgrounds

Victory has two playgrounds, one for the new entrants and one for the older kids. The one for the new entrants is small and the other one is much bigger.

The new entrants one has a plastic slide, two metal bars you can slide down, small monkey bars, a bridge and a small fireman's pole.

The bigger playground has a big metal slide held up by platforms, it has a tunnel connected to metal bars you can climb up, there are ropes you can climb on. Connected to that is a huge swinging tire held up by wooden poles and connected to the ropes are two rope swings.

The playground usually changes after a year and a half.

Rainy Days At Victory

Here at Victory when its a rainy day nobody goes outside and plays (unless their naughty). Everyone stays inside and does lots of different things like playing with Klicko, going on computers, activities the teacher has set up for them and lots of other things.

100 Beanies

Last Friday, 8 senior students performed for all the teachers because the teachers had a special morning tea for Norma. She knitted the 100 beanies! The song that they choose to sing was Matariki.

"I love the beanies. She made them so warm and when I had to take it off I felt really cold on my head," Onejhayah said.

"It touched my heart when they sung the sweet flowing song. It felt like I was still a kid,"said Norma.
The kids enjoyed themselves and hope they can perform again for the staff.
